Please be aware that any income earned through rental of holiday property
should be declared in Portugal and tax paid here. It is a simple matter
for the tax authorities to search sites such as this, see villas for rent,
see the values being asked, see the online booking and availability charts
and calculate income earned. From that it is a short step to see if that
income is declared.
The tax department has declared open warfare on undeclared income and all
owners would do well to ensure their houses are in order in respect of
income earned this current year.
