Dear Webmaster, I tried your suggestion to open the tide table but it didn't work. I am trying to print out tables for March and April 2000 for our next holiday with you. Could only open the Oct. and Nov. tables. Am I too soon for next Mar. and April? Thanks for your help.

I am sorry but I just can't believe that Caramujeira is only 8 minutes from carvoeiro village. it used to take HOURS (well not quite but not eight minutes) Are you counting the village as starting in poço partido??? Or did they build a motorway? Please go and time that journey and get back to us. byeeeeeee

Dear Webmaster, I am unable to open the tide tables (located in residents corner). Any suggestions?

I works fine on my computer !?! When you're in the residents corner try pressing the Ctrl button on your keyboard and use your mouse to click the Refresh/Reload icon in your browser, it will refresh the page direct from the server.

We will be staying in Carvoeiro for 2 weeks from christmas day. We have two children (ages 13 and 14). Can anyone tell me some positives - as I've never been to Portugal before, although I am looking forward to it - I've never been away at this time of the year. The kids are looking forward to it, as they're assuming they will be in the swimming pool all of the time. I understand it could be warm but not that warm!

Any info would be appreciated.

REF- THE WORLD FAMOUS CARVOEIRO DOG I will be visiting Carvoeiro in the next few weeks and I will make a point of seeking out this hound and feeding him/her. I personaly find a friendly dog more appealing than a screaming baby ! By the way, from an earlier comment in this board it implies that along with the dog there are babies in the town square also wanting food. is this true? If so I will bring over some Cow&Gate baby food. I am sure this cannot be the case as the authorities would not allow stray babys to scream all night keeping all awake. I also have plenty of bars etc to check out now from reading other messages. Thanks.

Fraser is now in the old Mekong by the post office. Doing pizzas still I think.

Lung X-rays? They went out years ago. We used to go to Portimao to hav them at a place called S.L.A.T. - Servico Luta Anti Tuberculose I think. Dead good day out it was sitting waiting to be X Rayed by some big old bird in an off white overall.

Come on over gal you can get a job anywhere now (well in the summmer I mean!)

X-RAYS- if they did not find traces of tobacco in your lungs, you were not allowed to work.Ah!yes I remember them days well. You had to have a licence to eat, sleep and shit. What about going to the Spanish border every 6 months to have your passport stamped oh! how they loved Foreigners.not to mention driving a non Portuguese car.Or buying licences for the bar for 1 year and having the same policeman checking it weekly to see if it had run out. Then with your licences for open door, cassette music, karioke, live music licence from Lisbon, fire, restaurant, preforming rights, local camara licences. Not to mention the Fical up on the hill or the Junta de fricaseia.Oh!Yes I remember it well. Happy days I will never forget. anybody know happend to Terry (ex sully's and Mark). those days.

The Romance obviously have a large family, all on the Internet!

Webmaster

Dear Carvoeiro Lovers,

I would like to prize on restaurant in the Carvoeiro area as great to visit around this time of year: La Romance.

Me and my family went there twice last week and it was excellent! The service was good and the food even better. Unlike the travel agent told us, it can get cold around this time of year in Portugal. However, La Romance warmed us up, not only with their superb food, but also with their generous kindness and the always burning fireplace!

If you want a special evening in Portugal, this is a sure bet.

Regards,

Gustaf (Osnabruck, Germany)

Actually the interesting thing about the stray dogs is that they ARE usually owned by someone, as is obvious when the rabies jab man comes round. However the people there don't seem to have the strange sentimantalilty towards animals that the english have. Oh no, now you will think I am starting a fight, I'm not, honest! Just making an observation.

All i can say in response to your comments against feeding a stray dog is that it would be a very sad world if everyone had your attitude. What harm has a poor defenceless animal ever done to anyone, other that being a victim of circumstance, probably similar to you! Heres hoping you dont come back into this world as an animal in your second life. The most anyone can hope for with someone like you is that you finally realise that is a heart that you have.... and not a swinging brick. Pity us all if you had your way.

Funny how most people are quite prepared to feed AND home a stray dog regardless of it's colour, sex and religion (do dogs have a god?!). I bet if I left my kids (especially THE baby) in the square NOBODY would feed them, let alone give them a home (unless it was to harm them).Get your priorities right for God's sake!!!!

HELP!!!!***** Ive just returned from a wonderful holiday in Carvoeiro, apart from one problem. I became quite attached to a stray dog that frequents the main square of Carvoeiro. Hes fairly large, with brown and white markings... and hes a treasure! He never leaves this square... and, sadly, no one wants him. Its such a waste. I fed him as best as i could during my stay, and, i was rewarded in more ways that i can mention. Hes a lovely natured dog, but, barks a little. He loves the company of people, and runs to everyone that shows him a little attention. This is a plead in the hope that some kind person could show him a little warmth and kindness during their stay, and give him a little food and water. Remember.... everything that goes around.....comes around.

Thanks for your time

hello all my fans

Mr Know it All here again after having undergone open stomach surgery to relieve a blockage of good food and wine.

All you gourmets and gourmands ought to get your arses up to Lagoa to the (oft mentioned) Cafe Ciclo. Immerse yourself in Portuguese cafe society and food. I have just been there for lunch (buuurp) and had: - A beer (thirsty on arrval) Bread and olives Berbigao (cockles to you ignorant gits) A pratinha (small portion) of shallow fried baby hake with a mixed salad Half bottle of white wine (well - it is lunchtime) 2 bicas (espressos gits) large brandy (mmmmmmmmmmmmm)

cost? Esc2,180 ( less than 7 quid) All dishes are available as full or half portion and cost typically Esc1,300 full or Esc750 for a half

Use yer loaves will you and support Joao and his pleasant staff

He also runs BOM BORDO up the hill in Carvoeiro if you can't afford the bus fare to Lagoa

Ps I am not his brother, father, mother, lover etc Just know value when I see it

Quinta do Paraiso was one of the earlier tourist developments in the Carvoeiro area. Started by an entrepreneur Robby Bachmann (later to also start Rocha Brava and Quinta da Balaia in Albufeira) the development nestles in a natural valley round a communal pool, receptione and restaurant area shortish walk from Carvoeiro. I have lived here over 18 years and have always liked it. The villas are older style but very sweet.

I don't know what the managemnt is like though
