As for car hire, possibly only at Faro, the 26th is work as usual here so it would probably be better to rent then. Why don't you get in touch with a rent-a-car and book your car that end?

Spent two weeks recently in Portugal. One week at Hotel Carvoeiro Sol and one week in Falesia. We were sorry to leave Carvoeiro after the first week, which was amplified by our stay in Falesia. The selection of restaurants was excellent. A couple of weeks would not be enough to explore them all. The two jewelry shops that we found we first rate. My plastic was certainly hot when we left. From Faro Airport to Vilamoura( look for ALBUFEIRA,PORTIMÃO signs and eventually you'll see VILAMOURA turning in about 15 /20minutes from airport) ,once you get there you'll have to ask anyone for the rest. Enjoy your holiday- shame it might be a bit wet but then it could be nice and sunny again.

I went to a place on the 125 called flor do campo, nothing special, but nice food and very clean washrooms. Usualy if the washroom is clean so is the kitchen, trust me I know!!

Congretulations on your homepage. We stayed in Ribeira Park in Albufeira from 4 until 18/10-1999, yesterday, and we had a great time. Thanks to your homepage we visit Carvoeiro and hop to stay there next year. Bij the way restaurants in Albufeira are quite good. Examples: O Tunel, Atrium, Ruina and the very nice and clean 'snackbar' named Balaia (fantastic Piri Piri) But don't consider eating (anything) at RICARDO'S Pizza place, unless you like magnetron/microwave oven dinners. Even the Spagetti Bolgnese was disgusting and overpriced! Greetings koch family from the Netherlands.

RE euro football 2004:Lets hope they make a better job of it than EXPO 98 when the official buses were not allowed to drop you of at the entrance gates they were passing but at a stop 1 mile away,and a better job of the World Fishing Championships when there were 24 teams and 23 picked a peg number out of the bag and when the last one went to pick there peg number there were no balls left in the bag,there then followed a 5 hour delay while another set of balls were found and everyone had to redraw there peg numbers.AH! Next to spelling, reading is not strongest side either, is not it? I just stated that Amália Rodrigues is the most famous Fado singer ( a fact nobody doubts ) in the world, not by what % she is known!!!

Still, I do not have a problem not to be able to buy one of her records in some english record-shop, (who wants to go there?) but not to find any Ches & Deva records here in the Algarve really scares me! What am I going to do...

For those who dó care about Fado: Amália Rodrigues left the world a great heritage, like many other great singers, musicians etc. Let us cherish that and enjoy the recordings they left us.

I can assure you less than 0001% of people in England have ever heard of Fado let alone Almalia. After living in Portugal for 10 years I was not showing any disrespect for Almalia,but just the "Famous Worldwide" quote which is always grossly over rated by people who live in their small cubbyhole of a world.I doubt if there is record shop in the whole of England who stock any Fado recording.The same as I would not expect to find Chas & Dave in a Portimao record shop. Alamlia was Famous throughout the Portuguese speaking world should have been the quote,and thats not very big in comparasion to the rest of the world.So before telling people to get a life,I have had a good and worldwide traveled life.

A disastrous day. Starved myself for a full 90 minutes and went to Primavera. It was full and I couldn't get in. Too many good reviews have thwarted Blobby. Anyway very miffed I went inland to Algoz and there found a great little pizza place called Daniels Pizza in the main street. (Thats the one with the potholes). Very good very cheap. Also do a couple of pasta dishes (not tried) and a good simple portuguese menu too. Give it a whirl.

Glorinha? "Those were the days my friend I thought they'd never end" etc etc. Bica and Medronha about 100 escudos. Legless for a quid.

I think Happy's was a shoe shop and then a fish shop, before it was a shoe shop it was a clothes shop. One of the bars, cheers or oficina, was a wet fish shop, but that was yonks ago! Anyone remember "A Glorinha"?

Happy,s used to to be a wet fish shop before it was a shoe shop.James (goldfinger)is on a goverment grant holiday.I doubt skubidu's will ever open again.From one who now is far away but still very much in the know.What happend to whats is name? erm! cant remember right now,will be back after I take a pill.
