I had thought that this website and messageboard were to show the benefits of visiting the lovley area of Carvoeiro and not for the anti hunting/fishing lobby to have its say.

I am fed up of reading messages from people who think they have the right to say what other people do on their holidays. Surely its about time that the kind of messages that we read on this website are comments on the area(be it good or negative)THAT ism why we originally linked up this website prior to our August 2002 holiday)surely I'm not the only one with this opinion.

ALGARVE AIRPORT TRANSFERS Many thanks once again for your assistance during our stay.

Fortunately, everything went as planned with regards the separate flights home and my son appears to be returning more towards his normal self by the day.

I obviously cannot thank you enough for your unquestionable response at 6am in the morning having spent 1-2 hours frantically calling the entire listing of taxi numbers in the local 'yellow pages'. In response, I can only return the favour by strongly recommending yourself and your company to all our family & friends who may visit Portugal in the near future.

thats strange..when ever i have seen posters advertising big game fishing there is usually some person standing next to a dead shark or marlin hanging by its tail. i am pleased to hear that you return caught sharks back to the sea...how dooooo you do that..sounds dangerous to me..getting the hook out of its mouth. re the bull fights in lagos yes i agree ..i am delighted you have made the connection. the trouble is that those who practice big game fishing dont like anyone to question their reasons or morality for doing so.

You can't compare Aldeia das Chamines with Carvoeiro Mar. Carvoeiro Mar knocks spots off Chamines which is one of the oldest complex in Carvoeiro approx.30 odd years old. I would rather stay at Carvoeiro Mar than any other apartment complex in Carvoeiro.

Re holiday apartments. Aldeia das Chamines and Carvoeiro Mar both close to one another a 6/7 minute walk downhill to the centre of town. Not bad locations. Chamines is quite old (25 years or so) Carvoeiro Mar was built about 13 years ago. Not luxury but quite ok I would say.

Both have communal pools but a bit too cold now for that!

I got back from Carvoeiro on 5th Oct 02 the best place to eat in Curvo do Casino it is off the beaten track on the down road on the one way system from the top of the hill behind the tourist info office.

I had 250 euros nicked by Catia in the wine shop on the square but she denied it of course be careful in that shop!!

Re Jack & Daniella. Jack is doing really well. He is just completing his treatment for the sandfly and is beginning to put on some weight and Daniella is fighting fit We are now just waiting for the 6 months period to elapse from when they were both clear of Rabies. We are expecting them end Feb/ March 2003. The good thing with doing the pet passport from Portugal is when they fly into Heathrow, we can pick them up and bring them straight home.

We currently live in a flat with 2 beardie collies but the time has come to buy a house with land so Jack & Daniella can have a bit of space in their new home.

Ref Travel & flights to Portugal.

Flights to Faro from Scotland Try Edin to Frankfurt then trnsfer to FARO flight=£195 inc tax =not bad ,no trvelling south to M/CHESTER OR East M/lands.Saves the 4/5 hour drive and is a scheduled flight and not flying cattle class- hells teeth, they even give you a beer for nowt !

Similers Bar -sorry guys, the Gray family cannot make it this Oct but we will be there soon ( probably April 03) . Planned to be with you all this week but serius illness has stopted the trip -it was booked !!!.

That's the problem - half term! Be prepared to travel from other airports, that may help. I've done that several times and struck lucky.

Wouldn't normally say this - look in Travel Agents window! Every so often they can find odd flights at good rates. I've also known people book a really cheap package holiday and not taken the accomodation as this was cheaper than the flight only deals!If you've got a good independent travel agent they are usually better.

Sorry to sound a pessimist - but you may find cheap flights very hard for then. Good luck anyway!

Re: Golf Palmares is one of the best courses around - unfortunately it is becomng expensive.

Boavista which is a little further away is terrific and the fees are very reasonable. However along with most courses on the Algarve they think they are on the 'gravy train' and are putting their fees up next year. So play there before they become too pricey.

To Jason: re golf courses. Boavista is about 40 mins from Carvoeiro, we were lucky to be one of the first to play there in January and enjoyed it very much. Palmares about 20 - 30 mins is a very nice course. So is Pinta (10 mins drive), but Gramacho has too many bunkers for my liking! Out of one into the next. Gramacho being extended to 18 holes from 9 so might be improved this year. Good golfing, Dennis

Also try bmibaby website. They have free flights from Cardiff to Faro (only pay £7.50 taxes each way). It opened at 7.00am today (not sure how long till it ends).Bookings up to 30 November only.

I got 2 free flights today - only paying £30 taxes in total (£15 each person - pretty good eh?)for a long weekend next month.

It took 2 attempts as the server crashed the first time - too many people accesssing the database at 7.30 this morning!

I've been to Carvoeiro many times during Feb/April/July/Sept/Oct and NEVER had bad weather!!! Is November going to be the month that changes my good record??!! I'm hoping that as the weather hasn't been brilliant of late that November will have a heatwave!!

We had a great time in Carvoeiro this year and found a new restaurant called Soly Sombra a mexican restaurant at Carvoeiro-Mar near Bubbles Bar the food is excellent,and grate value for money if you go there please send are regards to the owners Sergio & Jose who are a great laugh. try oasis needed to book in the summer but check on the one way road out of carvoeiro try the rack of ribs. o'tasco, China Town (next to o'tasco), we found maxime's a bit expensive and not good quality, also o'boteco on the way to mont carvoeiro spectular views. enjoy your holiday i am sure you will, been to carvoeiro seven times and unfortunately not going next year really going to miss it and the people.

FAO - Don Rogers Re: Eating places in Carvoeiro. There are plenty to choose from - our favourites include A Gale' (Proprietor Tony speciality -typical Portugese cooking). In June it was ESSENTIAL to book a few days in advance. For a special night out - bit more formal try Julio's - nice atmosphere & great service. Worst meal was 'Galleria'which is not far from A Gale' poor quality food and the young waiter thinks he's funny (NOT). Plenty of good watering holes - Smilers in the day time to watch the world go by, & Imprevisto in the evening - good value. Very easy to find your way around the 'village' with most restaurants in close proximity to each other. Hope you enjoy Carvoeiro as much as we do - visited 5 times ENJOY! The Pembroke 4

Re: Golf courses in Carvoeiro Pinta & Gramachio are fabulous, testing courses with lots of water and fabulous greens. excellent rates and the staff are very good. not far from carvoeiro. I'm about to out there tomorrow so looking forward to playing both of these courses.

I was recently on hols in carvoeiro again and loved it, but went to a restaurant in silves and the had a lovely kebab skewer stand in wrought iron with a wooden plate on the base. i am now back in the uk anyone know where i can buy one to get it sent home from, tried everywhere when i was out there but no luck, cheers

Hi, I'm coming to Carvoeiro in Novemeber for a long weekend and want to play golf a couple of times. I'm looking at local courses and would appreciate any advice on 2 best courses for 2 single figure golfers. I've read about Boavista opening this year down past Lagos but I'm not sure how long a drive this would be. Any ideas? Palmares is also down that way. What are the 2 courses in Carvoeiro like Vale da Pinta and Quinta do Gramacho.

Don Rogers - re eating places. Could highly recommend Happys -excellent food, excellent value and a very happy host - Liebe. Also recommend A Gale and Casa Algarvia. All 3 restaurants in the same road.
