Answer to "What is the best time of year to visit Carvoeiro?"...We went mid-October. No crowded beaches, restaurants or roads. Day-time temp about mid to late 70s with occasional 80 plus. Cool evenings. All attractions were easy to get in to with no queues. No need to book most restaurants. Calm atmosphere.

Hey everybody... does anybody know Joao Jose Pina?(better known as Johnny or Jungle man) tell him I said hellooooo and give him a SUPER, MEGA beijho, just coz after like two years I STILL think he is a hottie.... And I hope I'll see him next time I come to sunny Carvoeiro... And Tiago from the "bottleshop" really should sent me a letter, coz I told him to sent me one first, otherwise he is NOT allowed to NAG and MOAN next year as he did this year... Oh and tell Jorge Antonio Rosario Silva that I hope he is fine, and I hated not seeing him last summerThat's about it I guesssssssssssssssss OH no I can't forget my friend PANDA... Oh and "Mr. Webmaster" Bob and Thom say hello to ANNABELLE!!!

Can anybody tell me what happens in the Algarve during the weekend of Easter and the following week thereafter? Does everything shut down or is a major party? How about the week before Easter Sunday? I am assuming that things are shut on Good Friday. Any more details would greatly help me. Thanks

Hi Eric

I found a pair of brown sandals. They were under a deckchair I hired on Bournemouth beach. That must have been June 1983.

Does this help at all?

Thats just about sums up the Brits abroad. Showing their golf score card to get a meal a bit cheaper when on holidays, when eating out on the Algarve is already less than half of what they pay in UK. Do you carry a calculater with you as well?. For gods sake please get a life.

Found in road near to Areia dos Moinhos 47\47\48 a tiny black kitten with white collar with writing on it. Kitten has been rescued by Mrs. Clown Dixon who is anxious to contact the owner (presumably has one with a collar on) Her telephone number is 282 358273 or telephone Sheila Gomes on 282 358853. Just thought of one more option, as a last resort u could try flying to Lisbon then maybe driving or taking train to Algarve, this was another option we also looked at in summer. More complicated but better than no holiday at all. By the way, last message should have read: "let us know how you get on"!! A

Message below the one below - if you dont have any joy with the contacts below, try contacting British Midland on www.britishmidland.com(they have flights to Faro on Sundays)also try www.britanniaairways.com (click on Britannia Direct box when you get into web site) and jmc.com. I had more luck booking flights in the summer via the internet than I did with a number of Travel Agents who all told me there were no flights available - NOT TRUE. Best of luck, can only imagine how you must be feeling. Don't forget to let us know how you get, we've got our fingers crossed. A

RE: SLIDE AND SPLASH

IT IS ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT!

WE WERE IN CARVOEIRO LAST WEEKEND AND WENT ALONG FOR THE DAY (WE ARE ALL AGED BETWEEN 20 AND 30!!!!)

I THINK IT IS IN OR NEAR TO LAGOA, BUT IT WASNT EXPENSIVE BY TAXI FROM CARVOEIRO (ABOUT 1,500)

ANYWAY I FULLY RECCOMEND THAT YOU VISIT, BUT REMEMBER TO TAKE PLENTY OF TOWELS AND A WARM JUMPER FOR WHEN YOU GET OUT OF THE WATER AS IT GETS PRETTY CHILLY! AND THEY DON'T SELL TOWELS THERE.

ENJOY YOUR HOLIDAY.

I am pleased to see someone making nice comments about Praia Da Rocha. We have visited a few times now and as said before the beach is beautiful, such a long walk and we are looking forward to visiting again next week. I admit certain parts are a bit touristy with the discos and many tourist shops etc but you have to take the good with the bad and the beautiful beach far outweighs the touristy element.

Roll on next week when I hope to be walking along the beach, on holiday with no work pressures etc.

Although Praia da Rocha is not as lovely as Carvoeiro, it's definitely worth visiting because of the beautiful long beach that you can walk along for a long way. Also the harbour is being developed and it's nice to watch the world go by. Out of season you can find a spot well away from anyone else and find yourself a lovely suntrap. I've done it Oct & Feb and come back with a lovely suntan. As for taxis ALWAYS get a price first. They are cheap but there are some rogues who will overcharge given a chance (speaking from first hand experience!)Wish I was there and not watching from a website! Jo

i was out this summer for a week with friends and it wasn't long enough!!!!!

we met some girls from england who were out there for 3 weeks and they had a great time.

We are hoping to go back next summer for 2 weeks, we can't wait.

It all depends on what sort of holiday you want. There is only one 'club' - but plenty of pubs!!!!

Carvoeiro isn't as commercialized as albufeira - it;s up to you

can't help you with the cost of a Taxi!!! sorry!

Hello,

We just returned from Carvoeiro. We stayed in one of the appartments of Rocha Brava Hotel which we CANNOT recommend at all. Unfriendly personnel, poor cleaning service and an appartment which was not very well equipped, the interior furniture was old and the terrace furniture rusty.

Besides this unpleasant experience we loved the Algarve! So, if you should wish to visit the Algarve, chose another hotel!

ATTN. RESIDENTS:

Since about 10 days a very friendly dog is living in our garden. It is a hunting dog, bitch, approx. 1 to 2 years old, flatcoated, brown with white spotted legs. Perhaps anyone is missing this dog? If not we are looking for a good home for it, as our 7 (...) cats have some problems accepting her.

She really is an extremely lovely dog, enjoys the company of other dogs and cats. If somebody could help us out, please mail to: doggy@solgarve.com Thanks in advance.

Hi everyone, this is it - we (the honeymooners) are just about to actually book our week in the Algarve for the first week of April 2001 (our honeymoon!!). It's time to pull out all the stops - what is the very best place to stay in the Algarve and in Carvoeiro in particular? Keep in mind that we need a romantic, luxurious place (price really isn't an object), with kitchenette, fireplace, pool, hottub, easy quick access to the beach(es), quiet and tranquil but also accessible to the fun with not a lot of screaming kids(no offense to those of you who have screaming kids). This is a honeymoon, after all! It has to be special. Let us know. We will no longer be bugging anyone for this type of info. Promise! Thanks.

Hi Guys,

I am one of four Irish guys, just back from Praia de Rocha and Carvoeiro. Right now I am totally depressed.

We had the best time of our life, every thing was great, the weather, the food, the beer, the beaches, the people.

You guys are so lucky to live in such a wonderful place.

Another thing that amazed me is how beautiful the Portuguese women are. You expect to see some beautiful women, but you don't expect that of every single woman you see. I know some might say that beauty is only skin deep, but not in this case, we Irish pride ourselves on being a friendly and welcoming nation, but I have never experienced such a warm and hospitable welcome to another country.

We travelled to Lisboa for the match and I was amazed how good the roads were. Then there's the Stadium, well just incredible.

To finish off with we had a great result in the Match. A draw was great for Ireland but bad for Portugal, but even after the match, I found the Portuguese fans great. I believe Portugal will still qualify, but it would be great if both Ireland and Portugal qualified for the World cup- fingers crossed.

Anyway, hope that's enough praise :-) I hope I get the chance to visit again.

Bill (bill_hugh@hotmail.com).

Ola, Carvoeiroenses! Artistas famosas que apareceram la incluiam Ronnie Scott,Mike Carr,Tony Crombie,Trevor Moraes,Bobby Gien,Marva Broome,George Melly,Harry South,John+Judith Hendricks,Jean Sarbib,Manuel Guerreiro, Jorge,Paulo,Carlos,Antonio,Rui,Thilo's Combo,Les Cirkel, Rao,Sergio,Anibal,Nick,Roger Cook(Blue Mink),Helio,Rogerio,Cat Stevens and group(while researching 'Catch Bull at Four'),Brian Auger with Jim Mullen,Barry Dean,Lennox Langton,Alex Ligertwood,Ron roadie,Godfrey the fisherman,Georgie Fame, and the Duke of Bedford, Patrick Cargill,Lulu,Billy Lowrie of the Free("All Right Now"),Paolo Gil etc.etc....

Ate a vista! TIM MOTION email:tim@motion-stills.demon.co.uk

Hi Again... i will not make you speak portuguese... there is allready a tiny machine that translates german-english, now they are making the german-french version... sooner or later you'll speak in a language, and at the same time i'll hear you in mine. But thats not the point. You belive i need your money... a real smile can't be bought.

Good will people welcome other people with their hearts, not with their wallets, as i expect you, not with your wallet but with your heart.

PEACE (:)) PAZ(:)) Manuel Alves

Dear Manuel, You want the tourists that visit the Algarve and Praia do Carvoeiro and www.carvoeiro .com, not only to leave their money in Portugal and have a nice holiday. No, you also want them to speak Portuguese! The Algarve is for probably over 75% depending on tourism, this website probably too. When I came to the Algarve for the first time, 20 years ago, the people were so nice and friendly, it was like gliding into a warm bath. It's hard to find that quality nowadays. Talking about Portuguese residents you're completely right, too many of them aren't worried about speaking Portuguese.

I have rights you know... if i don't demmand them now, tomorow it might be late. It is usual in Portuguese internet pages to find two flags, one for portugueses speakers, other for internationals. Somehow its weird that in this land, my culture and my language is being putted beside, in a slow motion that grows every day. If i demmand my rights you'll have to understand, but at the same time i congratulate the author of "carvoeiro.com" for his excelent work... and soon you'll receive a translation of your site to portuguese, and also two flags.

Call me a friend: Manuel

Dear Manuel,

There is nothing that I would like more than to see a Portuguese translation of the Web site, as well as a French and a German translation!

Up to this point nearly the whole Web site (+/- 440 pages and about 1.000 graphics) have been made in my spare time. As you can well imagine it have been rather time consuming.

Next point is that I also receive a fair amount of mail to which users expect answers. I have been able to answer most but imagine receiving the same amount of mail multiplied by the number of different languages and having to answer in the respective languages...

This said, I sincerely hope, in time, to get the budget together; the translations done, the help hired and rediscover outdoor life! Should you feel an urge to help you’re always welcome to contact me by mail at webmaster@carvoeiro.com !

Does anyone know of Gama Club, the hotel complex near Carvoeiro. I'm planing on staying a couple months and the prices seem ok but it does seem a little far out... Any other suggestions ? The thing is, I'll be working and I need a phone line.

Rosa's is a bar situated in semarias, just park your jcb or 15cc moped with 3 trailers on the back, order 3 pints of the equivelent of stella and a bifada(with american mustard),try and read your book whilst not being able to overhere the private lives of which ever ex-pats are unlucky enough not to be there to hear their best friends acounts, pay your tab 3 days later of £2.70. Cant say fairer than that!

Just to clear up an observation. "The big daft kid"as you put it with the bright yellow shirt pushing a pram accompanied by two women is slow of learning and not as advanced in year's as his appearance and feature's may suggest. The two women you mention try their best to keep him occupied and the small child in the pram is bringing him on no end !

rosa's bar and bonbon restaurant are near the watertower of Sesmarias. Coming from Carvoeiro, you turn left after the watertower, for Rosa's bar, then it's straight away on the right. For Bon bon restaurant you turn right after the watertower, after that you'll get a parking on the left, there's Casa Rustica?? and Bon bon behind it.

Ciao, Hans, Oasis

I don't believe the temps displayed on the WeatherCam page are accurate. I have been watching the weather forecasts for the region for the last month and the high every day is from 24 to 26 C.

So 33 and 34 is a joke.

I would advise using this location for accurate forecasts. http://www.luxurytravel.com/weather/weather_prapor01.shtml

Its Praia de Rocha which is very close.
