Can't spell the name of the place I got ripped off, but thought I should warn you all. I ate at O Raphiliol? (or something like that) last week It's at the top of the road out of Carvoeiro. I've been there many times before with no problems.I asked for a bottle of white wine, nothing special, not too dry. The wine came, it was nothing special,just a basic Portugeuse white, but whe the bill came I was charged 3500 escudos for it instead of the usual 1000-2000 esc. My fault for not checking the price before I drank it - but be warned!!

There are a number of good bars in Carvoeiro for your daughter to go to. Sully's is excellent which is just off the square, where Flavio makes his infamous cocktails. Also along Rua dos Pescadores there is a bar called Oficina which is open until 4 am. A lot of the locals go there which is quite entertaining. On the beach is the only night club called the Bote. It's a bit hit and miss and is open 'til 6 am. This is all supposing that you are okay with your daughter being out until these hours!! Unfortunately I cannot help you with Club Carvoeiro. I'm sure that you will all enjoy yourself, Carvoeiro is a brilliant place and you will be sure to fall in love with it.

used to be a jazz club up at Monte Carvoeiro. Fell asleep there many times.....probably coz I hate jazz. Don't know if it's still there though. Not much help really!!!

Dear people on holiday or people who are comming on holiday, Please, please, please walk on the pavements, and not in the middle of the road. It´s difficult enough to get on with our daily routines in the summer due to the amount of people ( no, I am not complaining. My name isn´t Mario!), so don´t make life even more difficult by making a simple trip to the supermarket a game of hit and miss. I know we have only had pavements for a few years, but you are welcome to use them. Thank you all in advance,and I hope you all have a nice holiday.

Thankyou Webmaster so much for directions from Faro. At last a sensible reply !! We're looking forward to staying at Carvoeiro in 2 weeks and want to say to Mario that most of us love coming to Portugal especially for the people, the weather and the food. The majority respect the country and the people; but like all countries we have people who don't, we just hope the rest of us make up for the worst of us. I'm still waiting for opinions on Club Carvoeiro - PLEASE write to this page and let me know ! To the Webmaster - your web page is much appreciated, well done for an excellent result ! One thing to ask - most tourist literature rates Carveiro Beach as one of the best but you don't say the same- any reason why?

RE Faro Airport / Carvoeiro... Just follow signs towards Portimão, when you reach Lagoa turn left towards Carvoeiro. Approx. 50 km from Airport to Lagoa +5 km. from Lagoa to Carvoeiro. Very simple! Get a free map of the Car rental company in the airport. I shall try to include this info on the web site !!(yes yes - Lisbonne Airport too!) Would people just relax when they come to a sunny southern country like Portugal or Spain, and forget about their stress they have in their own countries. To drive from an airport to a town or if you can use a certain phone or even use a credit card in our countries would be a big problem to you, I wonder how you would handle real problems in life. It's not all just work all year and then go to Carvoeiro or the Costa del Sol and get pissed every night within two hours, forget about their manners, have a curry, be sick and maybe a fight whilst their wifes and kids are staring at the so called father figure. The reason I asked is because I hoped someone would give me some sensible directions and advice about local routes if main roads were blocked,busy etc. I haven't been to Carvoeiro before and NEVER driven abroad hence my question. I assumed this message board was for this type of question amongst others. (Message to Webmaster - could this info be part of your website?) Please can someone tell me about Club Carvoeiro. Also I presume money can be obtained easily there using visa/mastercard/delta I await your helpful replies PS: I know you only have to press enter once. It didn't register the first time and when I pressed it again it did. Anyone who uses the web a lot knows these things happen from time to time.

Lilly Your message of 15th June refers. There are several routes to the Paraiso Country club from Carvoeiro Square, taking between 20 and 10 minutes walk. There is a good map on this web site that will give you a fair idea of how to get there. Dave Faro airport - carvoeiro via motorway will take you about 45 minutes. If you stick to the local roads it will take you just over an hour. Enjoy your stay! René

John from Holland. The apartments at Rocha Brava are pretty good. The kitchen is well stocked with pots and pans. The supermarket at the resort is not too good but there is another one near by which is better. My apartment did not have a working coffee pot, nor did I get one for the 3 weeks I was there. The 3 swimming pools are always packed with kids. If you don't have a car you can walk to town in 20-30 minutes. There is a shuttle bus which leaves 3 times a day.
