Please can someone give advice re Sky TV? There seems to be so many conflicting views about the availability. Is it just like UK...buy receiver & dish etc and pay a monthly subscription? Is it possible to run 2 subscriptions...one in England and one in Portugal?...Buying a property there and will spend our time between the two...(needless to say we hope to spend more time on the Algarve!!!)...but must have Sky in both places!! Hi, I know alot has been said about the best way to take spending money to the Algarve - credit card seems to be the best option - but can someone please tell me how much the charge actually is when changing Euro travellers cheques? I need to balance the cost against the safety of American Express - they will replace within a day, won't they? Any small cost in cashing them might be worthwhile.

Re nappies etc

Just returned from three wonderful weeks in Carvoeiro. The supermarkets do sell nappies but do not necessarily stock all sizes in the same shop!!! Bring a few and be prepared to hunt a bit and you should be OK. We found some in the town and the price was reasonable. The Intermarche is probably the safest bet unless you are happy buying a large pack of the things.

Will try Quinta da Gill, sounds just the thing I am looking for - He likes to ride the old horses.....might keep him occupied for an hour or two...have you any idea how I would contact them? p.s. I hope the horses there speak english, hubby don't know much portugese!!!!! (come to think of it neither do I!!!) However am willing to learn.

Went to Praia da Luz last year, enjoyed it , but want bit more life this year without being o.t.t. Carvoeiro was recommended, so I booked.. just like that! ta for info.

Thereīs a new book store in carvoeiro. ABC Algarve Book Celler. If you are a book reader like me I was very happy to hear the great news. I havenīt been in yet as there to open somtime this weekend, but already have heard go things about it. They carry mostly english books at very resonable prices. As you must all know english books in the Algarve are very expensive. They will also trade your bought books, and your used ones. There located on the road leaving carvoiro at the very top, across the street from O Rafaiol Restaurant. I just hope that they stick around. Enjoy the reading :o)

To all new visitors......

Carvoeiro is still beautiful, although we think there might be a bit more investment in the outlook of some buildings near the beach, a fresh paint would do miracles.

Our stay in CASA DO SOL firts week in June this year was not as we expected, os was told on internet. The question was, who is the guest in Casa do Sol.. ?!, the German owners like to be around the house all the time, so NO PRIVACY, but you only pay 75 euro's per night !!! shame on you.

Thanks to the nice restaurants and excellent food we still enjoyed Portugal very much and hope to come back soon.

To Gordon, thatīs great that you want to teach yoga, I started practicing only a short while, but really enjoy it. Doing it with vidoes is not the same thing as live. Itīs hard sometimes for us who want to do differnt things, cause most instructers give up after a few months, because of lack of people, and those few who wish to continue are left out in the rain. Hope you will give yoga lessons, and hope u stick around. Lulu
