attn. residents: We are looking for good homes for 6 puppies that were 'delivered' in our garden by a very friendly stray dog. They are 1 week old now, there is 2 brown, 2 black and 2 black-and-white ones. We estimate the will grow out 'medium size'. Already inspected by the vet, all in good health.

Please help us (and the doggies) out, if you can, and call us on our mobile: 962 498 755, or send an e-mail to: puppy@solgarve.com

Thanks in advance, John & Francine.

Car Hire - "Auto Jardim" have a branch near Faro and also one in Carvoeiro. I have used them many times and had no problems. I would describe their prices as reasonable and you will get back up if you break down etc.

Look at TAP's previous postings about a month ago for the telephone number or go to the links and visit the Portugese yellow pages under vehicle rental.

Webmaster - Congratulations on doing a fine job of describing and showing the trip from Faro airport to Carvoeiro. I'm sure it will be used by many. It was interesting to see that the Lagoa roundabout is now finished. It was a mess when we were there in March/April. Your tables for bus transportation will be very useful too. Keep up the good work. You have a great site and I visit it every day. Canada

MEMORIES Max was telling his son about his days as a prize fighter. "The bell rang and we met in the center of the ring. I threw a left hook, and he got me with a right cross. It was brutal."

The son was proud of his father's courage.

"Then in the second round I took a couple of shots, but held my ground. By the third round I had my opponent worried."

"Did you really?" his son asked.

"You bet, he thought that he had killed me."

Well done Portugal. I get more and more impressed with Portugal's play as each game goes on. I shall be in Carvoeiro next weekend and hope to be cheering them on in the final. Should all add up to a real party atmosphere I imagine. Looking at the photos of directions from the airport I noticed that the Lagoa EN125 roundabout has gone. When did that happen? It was there in October - I can't believe the authorities have moved so quick!!

Re:grow up!

I LOVE the humorus messages and HATE the nasty spitefulness that went on. My fave all time humorus (most of the time) was the "Amália famous worldwide" war, what a hoot!! If you want to know look back through the message boards, some of the messages are great. This is a fun place and the funny messages are great, we can combine the two funny and info. and keep this place "NICE" FROM A REGULAR WHO HAS POSTED HUNDREDS OF MESSAGES HERE, ALL NICE!!

On the football shirts...

There is a sports shop halfway down the hill coming in from the East, that also sells surfing and snorkelling gear. The prices mentioned are right but I found that there is some slight variation on the official shirts depending on the manufacturer i.e. adidas, puma, nike etc. I bought a Sporting Lisbon and a Porto shirt from this shop a couple of years ago...no problems.

There is a shop on the front at Vilamoura, if you can get there, that does specialise in football shirts and the cost is usually a few pounds cheaper. I bought an official Portugese one from this shop last year and it was 8,250. Like the British shirts, there may be cheaper ones that are not the latest version or last seasons shirt! Make sure that you are familiar with the latest version of any shirt that you intend to buy!

It's nice to be nice eh!

Well you've just contradicted yourself by telling us to "Grow up".

I thought having a bit of a joke was being nice. I stand corrected, but I tell you what...without a bit of e-mail banter going on, then this site's chat board would become boring and the number of visitors will drastically reduce, including me! I know because I run a chat board for another site!

Good riddance you will probably think, but having spent a lot of time at Carvoeiro over the past five years I have helped a lot of people with their enquiries (in a serious manner mostly). If somebody takes the ummbridge at something that was intended to be humerous and I cannot retaliate with a non-offensive comment then I and probably others will take their expertise and chat board time elsewhere.

It's entertaining for God's sake, and people have said so on this board.

I'm bringing the wife and 1 year old son back to Rocha Brava on Sunday 25th. As a football fan who wants to get on with the Portugeuse supporters, how much can I expect to pay for a proper Portugal team shirt ? Do they do a small one for Thomas ? And where is the best place to see a game in the Rocha Brava / Carvoeiro area ? (Not jokers bar - unless they have a bigger screen than last year). Looking forward to Sunday ! By the way, is it true there is a cyber-cafe on Rocha Brava now ?

Hotel Almansor is good - Apart from the fungus in the showers, the rude staff, bugs in the beds, the cochroaches, no hot water, cold water is brown, the lights flicker, building site next door, the head waiter will go off with your wife, the barman will go off with you, and so on....

Just kidding! Yes it's pretty good, but not usually in August (Oh Stop it!)

Oh Well Keegan it was a farce,
The English team was like my arse...
No chance of winning a cup,
and better off covered up!

The weather here is cold and fog,
I've heard Keegan has got rid of his dog.
It's not because it's expensive to feed,
But because Kev can't hang on to a lead!

Also there is the question of tea,
A tea bag in a CUP you see.
Is not all that it may seem,
But it's in the cup longer than the England team!

Portugal I will cheer,
Not just because I love their beer!
Because they have skill and class,
And don't play like a wounded ass!

Eventually England did get home,
Heads hung in shame, the streets they roam.
But Seaman's still there - there is no match!
Even the plane home he couldn't catch!

Finally when Paul Ince went down,
He was dazed, semi concious, not acting the clown.
"He don't know who he is!-I don't know for how long"
Kev said "Tell him he's Pele, and get him back on!"

Before the match Kev gave a cough..
And said "Becks - at half time I will pull you off"
Beckham look puzzled then said "Boss that's great"
"At Man U all we get is an orange on a plate!"

Would like a weeks rental approx 9 Sepember for 4 people (2 couples). Close to village with ensuite for both bedrooms or 2 one bed apts with pool or shared pool. Let me know via this page. I know there's lots on this webpage already but thought there might be something I don't know about at the right price! As for football (what can I say as an English person ?!)I'm supporting Portugal! You're a delight to watch and a lovely nation. I hope you go all the way! let me know about the apartments/villas. email addresses/websites would be useful. Looking forward to returning. Jo

Back from Carvoeiro after hours of delay due to the UK air traffic computer problem on Saturday. The delay did not spoil what has been a great week in such a great village. If you like live music try the Jailhouse Bar, it's great fun. For a quiet drink try Improvista bar near the Post Office. I also found Chef Antonios' disappointing but fortunatly did not fall ill. The ribs are great at Oasis bar.

See you next year

Just got back from Carvoeiro - June 2000. The Hotel Almansor was spectacular for our honeymoon. If you are honeymooning, tell the hotel before you go and you may get an upgrade suite like we did. The food in town is sensational. The salads and soups were good in every restaurant. Try the Nicola Cafes' Marisquiera or A Rede, both near Almansor heading west toward town on the right. Great, friendly service and great food.

O Chef Antonio was so so. The Catz Pajamas has the best pizzas and pastas - its all in their cheese. And the ice cream shop with the web cam - be sure to try it out!

Had a brilliant time in carveiro (1/6-15/6) I am only 20 and realised very quickly it was a couples and family resort but still had a blinding time. Nice people, excellent food and gorgeous beaches. If anyone has the chance to go to O'Bote disco on the beach (12am-6am) then PLEASE say hello to Carla behind the bar from Matt in Cambridge.!!!!! (She is worth going in there just to see her thang!!!!!) :-) p.s WATCH OUT for Chef Antonios (pink coloured walls on outside) my Sister had a prawn cocktail and had VERY bad food poisoning for over a week she could hardly walk!! but as I said the rest of the food is good....... so if someone could do that favour for me and say hello to Carla i would be more than grateful...!! I know how it feels to be descriminated for the fact that I am german (just think 50 years back and you will know what I mean). Being a devout family man does not mean you have to watch football on the TV all the time. Don't be ridiculous! Does that mean YOU stay in at home with your family 24 hours a day! You know nothing about the lads that died - I bet you don't even know their names!?

Why shouldn't a law abiding citizen be allowed to travel to watch his team play abroad.

Quiet often in the past incidents have been caused by the heavy handed police tactics. They are responsible for tarring everyone with the same brush, and treating all English fans as 'Hooligans', when this is clearly not the case!

Devout family men should watch football on the telly with their family, I don't think it was a case of the "wrong place at the wrong time" and it's very sad that two children have lost their Daddy but trouble before should have served as a warning. Unfortunatly the English have a reputation of being trouble makers (they've certainly lived up to it recently), it's only natural that other idiots want to try them out. Granted that's it's only "a few" that cause trouble but the "few" seem to be more and more with every match

Although it will be a shame if England get sent home, I have to agree with the decision that has been taken. This has to be stopped NOW, before more people get dragged into the violence. The only other step would to be to stop ALL English entering the country at the time of a match, whether it be women, children or men, which is very unfair on people who genuinly like football, go for the sport and NOT a bloody good fight. The problem is, a lot of people arrested over the last couple of days aren't recognised football holigans, probably "family men" like the ones in Turkey. A line has to be drawn somewhere, it will be a real shame if England go, because the way it's going we could even have a Portugal England final, wouldn't that be great, Luis Figo's legs AND great football!!!!!!!!!

Please don't associate what is happening in Euro 2000 with what happened in Turkey. Don't forget two Leeds fans died after being stabbed by Turkish supporters, and they were not hooligans! One of the lads that died was a father of two and a devout family man for God's sake!

It's a pitty that a few English people (HOLLIGANS or Red Animals) are doing so always so much trouble, now in EURO 2000 and so they did in Turkey sometime ago. This is a only game and people shoulld be happy. Un fortunatly a few English persons are the shame of England and it it is not fair because not all the english are like that. Actually most of them are sucha nice and polite persons. Let's hoppe the trouble finish.

Let's hope Portugal keep going on.... From a Portuguese who has many English friends

I liked this last England supporter message. It's good to see that English fans are sportly, not like those repugnant hooligans who give England a bad name. Football is sport, just a game. It's entended to make us have good times, not to kill when one doesn't support the others team.

Have a nice Euro2000 and hope we have a Portugal-England in the final (the day of the final I'll be in Carvoeiro, you'll hear me shout for Portugal from your houses :-) )

Hey easy Now - Each to their own,
Let's all get some curtains sewn!
Don't spend your time in the sun,
There's curtains waiting to be done!

I think I'll log on Harrod's site,
And spend my time through the night,
Asking which way to go,
To get to Carvoeiro!

Anyway for Saturday,
England might be on their way.
At the whistle we will larf!
Because Oliver Beirhoff has knacked his calf!

But before I laugh like hell,
Adams, Shearer and Macca are out as well!
Please don't let it happen again,
Eleven English downhearted men.

Also breaking news today...
It's the end of Match of the Day!
35 years on the BBC,
In 2001 it goes to ITV!

No more Hansen with his sharp rhetorts,
Or Lawrenson saying "Ooh! they're nice tight shorts"
Lineker/Hill shooting the crack,
Because Des Lynam's got his programm back!
