Vegetarians in Carvoeiro: Try "Catz Pyjamas Pizzeria" on Estrada do Farol #75 for excellent pizza (create your own), pasta, salad, starters and more. Rates reasonable and great service. Also try "Lanterna Velha" also on the same road, same side #47 for their veggie kabab. "Colombo's Restaurant" in the town centre also has a daily vegetarian meal (ask your server) and Anette the waitress is a joy!!! Most restaurants will make meatless meals for you at your request. We've stayed at Monte Carvoeiro and can certainly vouch for how lovely it is. We don't own a timeshare with RCI but were treated just the same. Even had a free meal with them - and no there wasn't any pressure to buy and Christine(a?)is a nice person even though we are late to the meal everytime!

Re Timeshare I agree with the timeshare owner that if you own at a reputable resort then RCI plus several other exchange companies can give you opportunities to visit practically every country in the world. I can also vouch that the accommodation 99 times out of 100 is going to be of a very high standard. If you want to sample a local timeshare resort then visit Monte Carvoeiro, just above the village, and ask at Reception for Mrs Christina Cottis who will pleased to show you around and explain everything.

Several cash machines but don't know of anyone who does cash back. Nearly everywhere accepts credit cards. You usually get a better rate on conversion through the hole in the wall than you would buying euros back home.

Well done for selecting Carvoeiro as your first visit you'll have a great time and don't forget to make the ice-cream parlour one of your first visits! Wonderful ice-creams and crepes! Don't bother with desserts in restaurants walk to the ice-cream shop instead!!

Building Site Noise To all those residents and holidaymakers who suffer the misery of building contractors spoiling even a weekend with constant banging and hammering. The law states quite clearly that the only legal working hours are Monday to Friday up to 18.00 hours. To work on a Saturday or Sunday at any time is illegal unless the contractor has a special licence. However, to obtain this they will need a "special reason" and, if not for an emergency, this can be challenged. If a contractor works at a weekend you are entitled to call out the GNR and request that the work be stopped immediately. Do not continue to tolerate this noise intrusion at weekends.

I can recomend (starting at Mirachoro and working my way down) Wolfs Bistro, Cantinho, Casa Algarvia, a little off topic but you must try the Currywurst in Round Up Saloon, then on the outbound road stop for some spare ribs and sangria at Oasis.

Monte Carvoeiro: Mamma Mia Pizzeria and Wolfs Restaurant.

Sesmarias: Bon Bon (50meters past water tower on the left)

Rocha Brava: Jardim do Farol, the italain (Bela Itaila I think...) up by the supermrket toward Centianes and then a cocktail at Zombies next door.

There is a limited range of food for vegetarians in restaurants in Carvoeiro - they all do omelettes or garlic mushrooms, but the emphasis is very much on fish and meat.

You can ask them to do something special, O Cantinho served us pasta with tomato sauce and salad when we asked for a vegetarian dish.

Most of the restaurants have menus outside, so check them out before you go in, and see if there is anything suitable for you.

Depending on where your villa is on the ADM development you will probably have a 10-20 minute walk to Estrada do Farol (the main street with shops and restaurants). There are a few restaurants at the top of the hill, but most are further down towards the square, the hill is quite steep, but not too bad if you take it at a stroll, rather than a sponsored walk!!

Have found this website very useful before our visit to Carvoeiro, especialy for guides on places to visit and where to eat. Is there a good choice of retaurants close to Areias dos Moinhos Villas or do we need to walk into the centre of Carvoeiro ?
