We opted for the free to air card which you get from the BBC but includes BBC 1,2,ITV1,2,Channel 4 and 5 Sky news and other odds and sods. He's based in the village 282 357843. I personally don't have any problem with camping vans, Carvoeiro doesn't have a camping site the nearest are Albufeira, Armação de Pera; Alvor and Ferragudo. I'm staying at the Rocha Brava for 2 weeks from 19th May with my family 2 small kids 4 and 2 plus my brother hos wife and 2 year old.

Can anybody suggest any child entertaining activities I've heard zoo marine is good. Are there any water parks suitable for little kids? We will have cars and so can travel a little. Nice beach information also appreciated. My brother also enjoys walks in the countryside and wildlife has anybody tried this and if so could you please suggest some places he could try or any advice on the subject.

Also can anyone suggest where the adults early 30's but still not too old to club, might find some good entertaintment (nice or lively restaurants and clubs) Any information would be appreciated, especially places to avoid.

Re eating; There is a good place to eat on the road to Benagil called Solmar or Solemar I'm not sure, it's on the left up a little track there is a menu on the road so you won't miss it, on the left going towards Benagil. Deary me, seems that there are some snobs on here. People, you need to chill and be happy. Re: Camperbus....Algarve is absolutely IDEAL for a camper as there are so many places to explore. I dont know whether you want to pitch in a beach carpark or check into a campsite but you will not be dissapointed whichever way you go. As for the gentlemens clubs...check out Adega on the main road up the hill from the beach. Its a bit pricy drinks wise but is fairly relaxed.

I personally dont see anything wrong with wanting a 'boys' night out whilst on holiday...gentelmans clubs are hardly the seedy drug fuelled dens of old.

Looks like bad weather over Portugal/Spain although the weather cam doesn't say there's been rain!

I've stayed there Feb/April/July/Sept/Oct and NEVER (yes really!)had bad weather!

Was last in Carvoeiro Apr 15th for 4 days and the weather was GLORIOUS! To answer the question about May weather, it would normally be good, but there are some strange weather systems around Europe making nothing normal at the moment. In England we are experiencing all 4 seasons in one day! (nothing unusual about that!)

Colina de Lapa Bar:

There is a Restaurant/bar open during the evening and a pool side bar open during the day. They are a bit expensive in comparison to bars in town. (House wine ~£5 bottle, beer #£1 bottle).

I was there last week and on a Friday night they were running a BBQ that cost 17 euros per adult and that included all food and beer/wine/pop you could drink and entertainment that was a young lad playing an organ followed by a bit of Karioke. We enjoyed it.

Also, on a few other nights there were 2 young girls providing entertainment by way of a few songs.

My recommendation to you would be do the BBQ (good value) and to go buy yourslef a couple a bottles of wine and Superbok down the supermarket (Good wine around £2 bottle, beer about 30p a bottle) and enjoy them in the comfort of your own villa.

Re Vale Do Milho. Played for the 1st time last week, think it was 30 euros. You can hire clubs, not sure if kids allowed to play. Suitable clothing required, took about 2 hours for 18 holes.

Colina de Lapa,

Just got back having spent 2 weeks there. There is a Restaurant on site which is a little bit expensive but not bad. The staff was great with our 2-year-old and they had a high chair. Colina de Lapa is a fair way from the centre of Caroeiro and you certainly couldnt walk it. Return taxi there cost 12 Euro (about £8). There were no restaurants worth visiting near to Colina de lapa so town centre is the best option. Also, there is a good place on the nearby Centianes beach (5 mins drive away and you get to eat your dinner while watching the waves lap onto the beach) which does good fish and they also were great with children. We also ate at Romas, which is on the road to Benagil (about 10 mins in the car) and they had a childrens club/minder to look after the little ones while you eat, the food was good and prices reasonable.

I recommend a car, you’ll need one staying in Colina de lapa because its in quite an isolated area.

Another point is that if you are staying in one of the 2 bed villas they are on 2 levels and the stairs is marble and quite wide. They have no stair gates available and so it is a little bit dangerous if you have a young one.

Also, you’ll be pleased to hear that the complex and the accommodation are “stunning.” The kitchen is fully fitted out with washing machine, coffee maker, juicer, full cooker, microwave, fridge freezer, blender kettle, dish washer etc. etc. so if you want you can eat in without having to compromise at all. The gardens were immaculate and the place is brand new.
