There ia a great restaurant above the cepsa garage. VERY exclusive, it is called A cozinha da Bruxa. I always find it incredibly cheap and good huge amount of grup. Also Sandes de fiambra at 3am a speciality when the guest chef is there....! Hellooooooooo carvoeiro!!

I would agree with O Jardim do Farol, it is one of my favouite restaurants but not exactly cheap. I haven't tried the other one. Where abouts is it?

Re Villa Nova, have stayed at Villa next to complex, the restaurant on site is exellent, try the portuguese style steak - superb, bit a hike into town, but its all down hill, getting back is the problem, very, very steep hills and a 20 minute walk, nearest shop at least 10 mins away, which if you dont have a car is a problem, especially on a hot day!

To Dave who is going to the Vila Nova in July.

We stayed at Vila Nova in March and found it very good. We hope to go there again some year. It's just a 10-15 minutes walk from the centre of town. We could see the ocean from our balcony. Our apartment was great with lots of space and a full kitchen. Good restaurant...and very reasonable.

Love the site, as does everyone I've ever met! 7 of us, came out last week (yes that was what the noise was!). Three of us had been out before and dad recently found the site (four weeks ago). FAB. Chat room won't work - not enough people on at once - and anyway what is wrong with the message board. It has cheered many up, and reminised about the drunken times! I am fascinated about false teeth (last month) and who these old characters were (probably met before I was born) I'd love a job in the summer if you can supply an address for me to stay!

Hope you're doing OK Fraser & recovering well from your op. I'll never forget the goldfish that were lost in the flood. It was Fraser's place that I discovered that goldfish had six second memories (marginally longer than mine at the time) and that by the time they had swam to one side of the tank they had forgotten where they had been so they went back to find out..and back again...and again...and again......a bit like my visits to Carvoeiro (I'm back on the 2nd May - I think!) Anyone any news on my old mate Lenny - made a lovely omelette did Lenny.
