Probably the only way to get another box would be to find a friendly installer in the UK and do it through him. You will already be a subscriber here and i don't think you can be a subscriber twice. A friend of mine used his parents address and without actually having anything installed but the card activated he took the digibox and card to Southern Ireland. It all works perfectly but there is another subscription to pay.

Re Sky digiboxes - Some work better in Portugal than others. I had one Grundig model which struggled but replaced it with another which works very well.

Dave Badrick of DNB Satellite Systems e-mail dnbsatsystem@ip.pt can tell you whether your model is likely work wellin the Algarve.

The non- subscription card is a free card which gives you BBC1,2,5 ITV1 and Channel 4 plus afew othres like Eurosport. You get it from Sky but it has to be switched one by them and it is obviously specific to an individual digibox so as far as I know you cannot have a subscription card and a free card on the same box. I have two boxes.

Yvonne, We have stayed at Solferias hotel four years running and find it great. The staff are very friendly, the place is nice, and your room is cleaned daily. Small pool to the rear and a small friendly bar indoors (also serve on the patio). 10 mins walk to the town and beach downhill, slightly longer coming back up the hill !! Taxi's are cheap enough though if you feel too tired. We normally book direct with Solferias, which travel company's brochure did you find it in ? DJ.

The other important factor is that many Brits are now betting on Euro entry which almost certainly means sterling has to devalue against the euro thus they are buying euro assets. Just come back from 4 wonderful days in Carvoeiro again. Brilliant sunshine al the time!

We stayed at Vila Mirante which is a first class place to stay.

A big thank you to Maria and her family who made me and my daughter so welcome. The accomodation is first class with a beautiful pool. We had it all to ourselves as no-one was in the other apartment!

They have 2 apts (1x1 bed and 1 x 2 bed). Absolutely perfect for friends and family to holiday together but have separate accomodation with no-one else to bother you!

I'm not sure if I should tell everyone how lovely it is as it may get booked up!!

O'Cantinho meal was fantastic, so can recommend them. Also can report that the ice cream and crepes are still the best. It's the only way to end a meal as far as we're concerned!! We never have desserts in the restaurants, we walk to the ice cream shop instead!!

Hope to come back soon - if I can get cheap GO flights again !!

Hi: Does anyone know the road called R.do Paradiso, I think it is on the right hand side of the swuare as you look at the beach and it is a quite steep and hilly? I have booked an apartment in a house owned by Gina Oliveira and it is called V ESTRELD do MAR, for 2 weeks in September. I came to the village 6 years ago and wrote down the name of this house, so I am hoping it is the same place we are coming to in September (I hope so). Any information would be much appreciated.
