re Mirachoro, finished and looks impressive, unless your on the 3rd floor views not great, try and call the hotel "direct" and negogiate a top floor! Restaraunt i belive is non existant evening wise but might be ok for breakfast, bar area last year sparse and unexciting! Pool area very good, but who needs a pool with all the beaches nearby, also has a pool bar but not open when we went. Hope this helps. Overall, not a bad place at all unless you eat a lot. Sharon, unless it's improved big time the supamarket on ADM is rubbish, however there is one about 15 mins walk or 2 mins in a car very nearby, also has it's own bakery. ADM is one of the closest "estates" to the village so car not necessary but to be honest I would book one from the airport but book via the web "much cheaper than the UK" Carjet.com and amoita.com are very good and no loading everything into a transit at the airport. Enjoy your stay, be hard not to.

Areis Dos Moinhos is close enough to town not to need a car - it is about 15 minutes walk to the Market Municipal and the many small supermarkets. There is also a small Ali Super - the Portugal equivalent of Alldays in the UK, on the Moinhos development that has basic provisions.

I am not however famililar with the the villa you have rented.

To person asking about golf and courses where a family can have fun - I'd recommend the Vale de Milho just on the edge of Carvoeiro. I don't have a handicap so I'm limited on where I can play. This golf course doesn't require one. I've been going to Carvoeiro very regularly for several years and I always play there and I don't tire of it. It's a great little course, picturesque and has a nice clubhouse overlooking the course.

You can also get your tax number (número fiscal) yourself at the finances (ie in Lagoa), you fill out a form for your deeds that's in Portuguese and English. I've been in Carvoeiro Feb, July, Sept and October and never had bad weather yet. They were all fantastic sunny days -yes even feb!

I'm arriving on Monday for a few days and can't wait! I hope now I've said the weather is always good I haven't put a curse on it!!

Just spent a great week in Carvoeiro - Carjet (hire car) excellent value, brand new car, two minutes from exit of arrivals.

Restaurant Bom Bard excellent food, good value and wine 4.25 Eur.

The cafe at the very end of the town on the corner near to the hotel (it sells fresh bread and pastries too)is also excellent value for breakfasts. (Near Wolf Restaurant).

Re car hire, try Amoita.com or carjet.com who are both very reasonable. Both have the cars parked outside without the need to hump your luggage onto a transit which takes you to the car pound. Carjet are only using Budget cars this year. Both only use cars under 12 months old. Hope this helps

There are several car hire offices in Carvoeiro village, or you can hire at Faro airport. All the major car hire companies are just outside the terminal building. As you come out of arrivals, turn right and leave the terminal building by the doors at the end, follow the path and you will see the car hire offices. We always book in advance to be sure of a vehicle either direct with Avis, Hertz, Alamo etc or through Holiday Autos or similar.

As for fresh fruit and vegetables, there is an Intermarche hypermarket on the road into Carvoeiro which opens every day (Sundays until 1pm). There is a covered market near the centre of the village, go up Estrada do Farol (the road heading towards Rocha Brava - Smilers and the Carvoeiro Sol hotel on the corners) and turn left at Xico Ze restaurant roughly half way up the hill on your left. The market is on the right and closes around 2pm.
