Re: Algarve Lisbon Travel: Probably easiest by bus since the train does not cross the river. Last I looked about £20 for a return ticket for EVA-Mundial Turismo, Tickets at the bus stop in Lagoa or at the photo shop on the road corner behind the petrol station. 1-stop (Mimosa/Alentejo ~15mins) trip directly to the Campo Pequeno vicinity. (now thats a lot better than scaring you with pickpocket warnings, I hope.....)

Talking about bad restaurants; Italian Restaurant Via Roma is a typical example of a really bad one! They want to earn as much money as possible with as less as staff as possible.(2 persons for 20 tables!) We have waited for more than 1 hour for our pizza which they forgot to serve. We had to ask for it. The pizza was a tasteless, gummy piece of shit. What a horrible place to go to.

Reading the previous messages regarding the quality of Le Bistroquet, I wand to respond. We had a meal there for three times. Both times it was excellent. The food is of a very good standard and so is the service. The waitresses and waiters are very kind and helpful. I have tried many restaurants, in and around Carvoeiro and I really can recommend this one !!!

Re la bistoquet, I,ve kept out of this so far but during the latter part of March I had a meal in there and the quality was up to last years standards, the service was not, and the problem with paying by debit/credit cards certainley was. The atmoshere was fine but punchuated with the occasional customer leaping outside to get cash from the machines. It's not all bad if you have cash. Don't knock the clientel when it's the management thats at fault. After all he does seem to have problems hanging on to staff and a wife. Perhaps he needs help! No ones perfect!.....Especially the owner!

I Have been going to Carvoriro for the last 8 years, and i love it but i have to say regarding restaurants try JOTA LITA very friendly and food is wonderful the plaice is the best ive tasted im a regualer visiter,and im going again on the 21st april,so see you soon john.also HAPPYS the best fish and chips in the algarve.both restaurants are half way down the hill JOTA LITA is on the left as you go down towards the square and HAPPYS is on the right try them you wont be dissapointed.

Re Sue's message of 11th April regarding the temperature shown on the webcam site, the thermometer is situated in the sun and the shade temperature is obviously somewhat less. Even so, midday temperatures this week in Faro have been 84F on Wednesday, 75F on Tuesday and 77F on Monday so much warmer and sunnier than UK.(Sorry, can't get the hang of celsius)

RE-LISBOA TRAIN/BUS. Please beware when traveling to Lisboa on the train and the bus there are professional pickpockets who wander around and pick their victims,especially as you are leaving the train or bus,2 or 3 of them try to push to get on before you have got off and the one behind pushes to get off taking your purse or wallet.These peolple are very skillful at doing this.BE WARNED.

Didn't want to have to do this, but following the thread about Le Bistroquet I feel it important to bring to peoples attention the fact that in Feb of this year I got a rogue billing to my Visa account from the restaurant. Visa investigated and I was re-imbersed. We ate there several times in September 2000 and were suitably impressed. Sorry to see it go this way.

Sue, I think 40c is a little off the mark but actually the temperatures during the day at the moment are certainly hitting 26-28C+ but it still gets cool in the evenings so make sure you take something warm otherwise the difference in temperature can be a bit of a shock! ENJOY!!!

Just got back from Carvoeiro(Saturday)weather 'broke' on Friday (typical)and is now lovely and sunny during the day with temeperatures well into the 70's. Get s very cool at night though which can be a bit of a shock!! So many good places to eat and drink it would be impossible to list them all but I will say if you want to e-mail home avoid Computas Bar. Unlike the rest of Carvoeiro, they are unhelpful and unfriendly.

As for the residents: If anybody has the pacience (and there have been people who tried) to catch the strays and take them to the vet for sterilization (costs and all included) I am sure it will be a welcome sight. Please do NOT throw out tons of poison hoping to kill them off because some people have house pets they don´t fancy killed in a mad frenzy of extermination!

Cats and dogs: There are only so many cats and dogs as nature allows there to be. Most litters are decimated by starvation in the first few months. If you decide to feed a cat or a dog, be aware that the animal will become fond of the place it is fed at and will continue to go there. You being on holiday and all will imply, that you either take the animal with you or hope the next people in your house will be as kind as you and not shoot the beast on sight. Either way, come winter the animal will probably starve...

I must agree with the Bon Bon and Antónios´s (when its not too full) suggestion for restaurants. The other two I have not tried, but with over 100 restaurants in Carvoeiro... Also try Primavera and Wolf´s.(probably some of the few restaurants where a little higher price is justified with the quality of food and presentation)

I can´t understand how people can say that le bistroquet is a good restaurant now, because since Diana and the rest of the team left (best of luck for JAN the chef,NUNU,PAULO,EDUARDA and the rest that i dont remember their names)that the service,the food and the ambient is just not the same and i can say this because i´m a customer for more then 8 years.Another thing that i noticed was that they dont take plastic cards any more and they always did.You will notice a lot of changes in that restaurant.NOT RECOMMENDABLE ANYMORE.

luis figueira is living in england, midlands apparentely with is missus and kids , and gabi i heard he died with a brain cancer (don't know for sure) and whoever remenbers helder the bar-man is living in new zealand with is wife and kid, paulo bonga the dj at the time runs and ownes (??)the ''oficina bar'' in carvoeiro.

It really is great to see that so many people enjoy this little paradise of Carvoeiro in the Algarve and it should not be spoilt with seedy little joints run by the likes of paki George and dopey dax.

The people should do all they can to run these sort of individuals and their kin out of the area. Stick together and don't give them your custome. Make a point and put your, polite views, on this website!

Hopefully the authorities will act to clear them out.

Hi, coming out there on the 12th April - checking the weather daily!! Need to locate a gardener, cleaner and pool cleaner desperately for Sesmarias area - any suggestions - is Maurice still contactable at Rosa's Bar? Regarding the strip club - WHAT IS GOING ON!!! GET A LIFE!! Carvoeiro is a beautiful place - unspoilt,friendly and great for families - it certainly does NOT need dragging down to the lower levels of other places on the Algarve!!!!!! Let those that want that kind of thing go and stay elsewhere - we don't need them!!! Leave Carvoeiro alone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
