Re Villa Almanzil - the villa is set back from the road from Praia da Marinha to Carvoeiro. It is not overlooked and has quite alot of garden. We sneaked a look last year but the shutters were down so we couldn't see through the windows. Warning - do not try to jump the wall when full of alcohol.

Great website. A few contributions : 1. The restaurant adjacent to the Rocha Brava complex fountain is much better than the one opposite. Nice people, excellent food 2. Anybody tried O Littoral at the top of the hill from Benagil beach ? Best Plaice and potatoes in the world!

The restaurant opposite Rocha Brava is called Rochamar. We had a lovely meal last year when we chose fillet steak. They have opened a Pizza place on the top floor - not tried that yet. It can be great some nights and slow others. Prices are not as cheap, as in say Happy's in town, but still good compared to England. Regards - Carvoeiro Fan.

Hi from the United States I happened on this page whilst trawling the Net. It is a great example of using technology for social purposes and general benefit of all.

I hope the argument over the cybercafe/bar does not put people off as both parties are doing a good job. I am glad to see we are not the only one who had such a wonderfull time in carvoeiro. We staid here for two weeks. Lucky for us we had one week of nice weather.Because of the bad weather we went out dinning a lot. We Found a lot of nice places to eat but Laterna Velha was by far the best. The pork filet a la chef was out of this world. My husband had a special dish the chef made that day wish was very nice. Now back in Germany for a week we really mis the wonderfull food. Guia is definatley the place to go for Chicken Piri-Piri, but be warned: there are about 15 Piri-Piri restaurants in the town alone and most of them are huge and specialized on supplying bus-loads of tourists with food...(hence the odd salty, burnt or even charcoaled chicken leg)If you are looking for great quality food, good prices and friendly service, I find only one (I have tried almost all of them!) that meets the criteria: Restaurante "O Algarve" From Carvoeiro turn right at the Guia crossing 50mts turn left at crossing, first restaurant on the right hand side!

Just returned from carvoeiro, it was my third time and for surtain not the last.....i just love it here. One day i will buy here a house, ofcourse i went out for eating. The place what used to be Antonio´s in Carvoeiro changed their name in Laterna Velha. Right now they are building the place, most of the people think the place is shut down.....it is not. The food in Laterna Velha was delicious, again i went there during my vacation lots of times, the service is very good and you can be there for hours without looking at the clock. The visit in oTheodore in Guia was a little less good the chicken piri-piri was too salt, and there was to much noise around. But as always i liked to be in Carvoeiro, hopefully i can make it this year one more time. See you there

Areia dos Moinhos is at the top of Estrada da Farol. We stayed there a few years ago. There are shops and restaurants within 10 minutes walk, but as it is the top of the hill - walking down is OK, but you need your strength to walk back up again. The villas are very nice - well the one we stayed in was.

I had a look at that web site www.algarve.uk.com and OK it was mostly to do with apartments at Monte Carvoeiro but it still had some good local beach photo's etc. It was also generally entertaining and you can even listen to some Fado singing. I agree not as good as this site but still worth a visit and the accommodation offered is excellent - just two minutes walk from the village.

Very impressive and informative site - without too much flash for a change! Wife + 8 year old will be in Cavoeiro last two weeks of April 2000 staying @ Areias Dos Moinhos.
