Dear Mr. T,

Nice to see your concern about the boys over here in Carvoeiro, but what concerns me is why have the developers waited for you to go back before digging up your garden front and back, with loads of pipes stacked against your wall and a load of sand up against your kitchen window. You never said there was a problem with the drains. I'm not sure but it looks like they are going to start tunneling under your place soon. Jumbo Mark is not impressed by the way they just towed your motor out the way with the dumper truck! I'm sure it will be put back in order by your next trip. The Golfer.....

Try having a look at December 1999, and the McChain abuse. In my book calling someone else a twat is very ofensive, I agree the webmaster is doing an excellent job and I take my hat off to him, but if he wants to censor the site he should have started at the begining and not when a stupid comment about one of the many bars here was added.

Excited of Canada - I would wait until you get to Carvoeiro and book your Lisbon hotel at one of the many travel agents. They offer good advice and plenty of choice. While in Carvoeiro try out Chef Antonio, The Mistral and the Bistroquet for good food and also the Carvoeiro Bar for a quiet drink. Outside the village try the Sardine restaurants at Portimao and a trip to Silves and up the mountain to Monchique is worthwhile.

we are off to play golf for a week, week commencing 18th March 2001. We are stopping in Vilamoura but want to know if there are any decent nightspots that are open this time of the year. I am off to Portugal in two weeks, can hardly wait! I have found this site extremely helpfull. Every few days I check in to look at the weather and view something different. We will be staying in the Carvoeira area and then off to Lisbon for the last couple of days there. If anyone has any suggestions of must sees, great restaurants, or not to miss activities please pass in along. One thing I have not been able to find is what the water temperature would be this time of year? Also any suggestions for places to stay in Lisbon that is, most importantly clean, but moderately priced?Thanks for your help. Excited from Canada

Webmaster you should be ashamed of yourself, it's not fair to other "abused" people and places to remove some comments and not others. I remember "Amalia", a couple of resturants and bars had a really rough time, what's so special about the Jailhouse?!

RE Bars in the mid eighties. We have being going to Carvoeiro every year since 1994 - Tried Safari but preferred Smilers. Last year think Safari was under new owners and Smilers is still in the capable hands of Geraldine - our preference is Smilers every time kids were welcome although the eldest "kid" will be buying us a drink now! Back again from our third holiday in Carvoeiro, which was beautiful as ever, we may inform people watching the webcam that they should basically not trust the temperatures stated. We learned that the weather in Carvoeiro since November 2000 was very wet and fresh but the weather cam shows almost temperatures between 23 and 25 (and higher) degrees and scarcely no rain. I don't knwo why - maybe it stands behind the oven? We think it would be better for believeness to close the work of the cam as to give wrong information! Sorry!

At the western end of Algarseco there's a simple sign 'Eschindas' indicating steps down to fantastic rock formations and tunnels. Is my spelling of 'Eschindas' correct? There has been alot of fuss about the http://www.waddybear.com/ web site over the past two months or so. It's strange how the derogatory comments (loser, lost the plot, weirdo, etc) have come on the message and guest boards and the positive have come via e-mail. Let me tell you a bit about the web site. Most of the work is done by an eleven year old girl. She expressed an interest in computers and her father and uncle decided it would be a good idea for her to learn this way. Waddy just happens to be a Teddy Bear she is fond of. She's now conversant in domain names, e-mail, animated gifs and jpeg. Apparently the other day she asked about java. They prefer her to express her interest this way than play games and get a complex about the size of Lara Crofts chest. There is genuine Carvoeiro material on this site (pictures and stories). I e-mailed and found out.

Taxis from the Airport generally charge in the region of 10.000$00, but if you go to Yellow Pages on this website and click on "Travel Agents/Car rental"- Joao Gomes Agencia,they are really helpful, e-mail them asking for price and they generally charge in the region of 8.150$00. It is much less hassle to pre-book and saves and waiting around at Faro Airport. Annie

We just returned from the Algarve and had a very good time, even though the weather wasn't the best. Driving around we found this lovely pottery along the mainroad in Porsches called Olaria Pequena (small pottery) in an old white and blue house on the right going from Faro to Portimao. We bought some handpainted bowls and plates, really one of a kind. We'll be back in October hopefully with some better weather.
