Re: Golf. just come back from lanzarote and they only have one course. They asked for handycap cards which was overcome by a short letter.

You have no such problems in portugal. In fact they incourage Beginer's & Women Driver's.(execuse the pun).

We (A group of guys and our wives) are coming to Carvoeiro in June. We would like to get a couple of rounds og Golf in, however none of us have Handicap Certificates (As all of us are just begginners). Is there anyway that we can play on a public course perhaps ??

Our family has just completed 2 marvellous weeks at Quinta do Paraiso and would like to comment.

First of all, the web-site was invaluable in planning the trip - thank you very much. We stayed at Casa Azevinho (details are elsewhere on this site) and can recommend it highly - a beautiful 2 bedroom villa with a lovely garden and a great roof top terrace for watching the sun go down with a couple of beers in your hand. The owner was easy to deal with, and we will not consider any other location when we return (hopefully soon).

We visited several of the local restaurants and bars and we felt Barcas Tapas Bar was the best for food, and a great value, plus the entertaining owner was a treat.

Many thanks to Onne and Charlotte at Charly Bar, we visited every day without fail, its the best place to have a beer and watch the beach. Try their cheese and olive plate with the hot mustard!

After putting 1600 kilometers on our rental car, and exploring the Algarve from one end to the other, we can safely state that Carvoeiro is the best place to stay along whole coast. The village is still charming as the developments are all on the outskirts. The beaches and cliffs nearbye are fantastic, particularly Praia do Marinha, and of course Algor Seco, just east of town.

Our advice - avoid Albufeira, too dirty, touristy and confusing to drive in. Lagos is definitely worth a visit, as well as Sagres, and, if you like the mountain vistas, Monchique.

So once again, thanks to Dr. Susann Bresslein for her lovely villa, Casa Azevinho, and thanks to the people and businesses of Carvoeiro for a wonderful and relaxing vacation.

I am possibly coming to live in Carvoeiro. Can anyone tell me if broadband Internet access is available, or if not ISDN lines. Is there a deal with any ISP to provide unmetered access or what is the best deal. I need to be connected for 7 hours, 5 days a week on two Internet connections. Some of the lovely local boys play football on the football pitch/tennis court at the back of the Marisquera and A Rede Apartments on restaurant hill. They usually play at about 5 or 6 and its quite a nice sight for the laydeez aswell. Vicky - Jailhouse Babe x

ARK England Read your message. My husband and I went to carveiro last May, aptts. Monte Dourado - 5 mins. from shops,beach, restaurants etc. appts. great for families,2 bedrooms, kitchen with washing machine, dishwasher, fridge freezez, each appt. block had its own pool. So impressed are going back this May! even though our family is grown up!

We shall be in Carvoeiro 1st week in April and whilst we have been numerous times before, it has always been in July or August. Please can someone tell me what the temperatures are like at this time. I know there is an offcial "weather" site but I have always found these figuresto be inaccurate as it is usually hotter than they say! You only have to look at the temperatures on the WeatherCam today to see what I mean!(Wishful thinking?). Also, are there many places open this early in the season i.e. Absoluto, Officina, Jailhouse, Bote etc?

The shrewd cookie who is building Colina da Lapa is probably in the Algarve because he was born in the Algarve! Sort of makes sense?

He is succesful property developer with other very nice well run and maintained resorts under his ownership
