Hi everyone and happy new year - just so pleased to say that we have booked our flights to FAro and it will be our 4th holiday in Carvoeiro (hope I spell it right too much booze tonight!) CAn't wait for June 21st when we see you again - till then it's just the weather cam!!!

If you are going to book for Paraiso, book with privately owned villas through this website. Do not go with paraiso's own management or holiday company as the service is extremely poor !

Re The Forum - I've used similar in another website - with the existing Message Board its very easy see read the 'new' message as you only have to scroll down. This means that you can disregard those entries that you are not interested in reading without having to 'click' & open each folder to see what it contains. (I hope that this makes sense) Personally - if it ain't broke then don't mend it!!However, the Carvoeiro site could do with a little bit of refining eg Is there a need for a Guest Book & a Message Board as the entries appear very similar?

To Susan If you want a kids club then I suggest you book a villa on the Quinta do Paraiso, it has an excellent kids club, open seven days a week from 10am to 6pm (closed for lunch), kids entertainment in the evenings and there is a very caring kids entertainment team. There is also a pizza parlour on the complex, swimming pools, and a bar by the pools where you can also buy lunches. Its just a short walk to centre of town and I thoroughly recommend it. I go there every year with my kids!

By the way, the New Years Eve party at the Jailhouse was excellent... thanks Karen and Dave!! Will definitely be there again next year.

DIY - the most convenient and well stocked place is Mestre Maco (spelling may a bit iffy) in Lagoa. Itis on the N125 next to Shoe World. For furniture you really have to go to Portimao or Moviflor at Olhao beyond Faro.

Nice new website, but it'll take me a while to get used to it! Better options etc though. The only thing I miss is the info bar on the left, even though I know I can access it elsewhere! It's like old slippers - you feel comfortable with them!

Annoyed I missed Carvoeiro on the BBC prog last night - typical! By the way does anyone know if the Sol Hotel had refurbishment done recently? They were supposed to do up some rooms etc somewhere over Nov/Dec/Jan.

Does anyone know which UK tour operators offer Carvoeiro in their brochures or is there a more comprehensive list of hotels. the Sol is ideal location wise but apparently rather noisy at night with the local Barry Sheens ( showing my age ) doing their thing down restaraunt hill.

August is one month I haven't been in Carvoeiro, but I'm someone who hates going in the cold sea, and I've swam in June and September! The water was like bath water in September - beautiful!

Now - my mad husband and daughter swim in February!! I have paddled in it then, but that was when the weather was lovely! I've also stayed where pools have been colder than the sea! I'm there in about 6 weeks so I hope it's another heatwave then!! Can't wait and I was only there end of November!

The BBC prog didn't do justice as has been said. If it's your first visit, you will fall in love with it! Enjoy!

Yes, the sea is cold when you first get in, but you seem to get used to it pretty quick, particularly if you splash around and have fun. However, have had private pools in villas a lot colder!!!!!! Went on one of them boats last year round the grottos when they moored near the grottos I braved the elements and went snorkelling..........NOW...that is what you would call cold,but having gone in I put a brave face on , smiled, pretended it was fantastic.....in actual fact it was absolutely freezing,but wasn't letting on!!!!! would I do it again- absolutely, cannot wait.

the sea temperature is cold as this is the atlantic but once your in it's lovely. the bbc programme did not do carvoeiro justice, you will have a wonderful time and will want to return year after year trust me.

Re Glassgow to Faro. You say 31st March (Mon) which is not a charter flight day. If you need to travel on the 31st (or 1st Apr) then try Easyjet.com who fly to London Stansted and from Stansted to Faro. Fares to Stansted are very cheap (£30 rtn)and the daily afternoon flight to Faro leaves late enough for you to catch it. Failing that, tell the jocks to find their own way there and you fly direct to Faro, Seville or Lisbon.

Happy New Year to all lovers of Carvoiero ! Can anyone give me some pointers on flights from Glasgow to Faro. Happily we have two weeks from March 31st in Carvoiero, and our flight from Canada is booked, however there are 2 couples joining us from Scotland. Seems most really really cheap flights are from the southern side of the border. Any ideas anyone? All the best
