We spent a lot of time deciding where to go for our holiday this year. On consulting my stepson my husband decided if we didn't book a holiday soon we would not get away at all.As he works for a well known travel agent he set about the search for sun, sea, sand and a much needed break from this hell hole. We decided to head off for Portugal. I have to admit that I am very sceptical about leaving home as I worry about a lot of things.Especially cleanliness, this was one area that I was concerned about. Visiting somewhere that to me may as well be Mars. I have to hold my hand up and say that I needn't have worried at all. Our holiday was beyond expectations. We set off for Carvoeiro, it was breathtaking. We stayed at Monte Duarado Apartments, we couldn't have wished for more. It was so clean and more than adaquately equipped we had every home comfort imaginable. We booked an appartment for 3 people and could easily have catered for six. So we deffinately got value for money. The pools were cleaned between 7.30 - 8.00 am you could have set your watch by the pool man. Beaches that we visited were spectacular, some not very easy to access but well worth the trek to get there. Local people were great and helpful in every respect. We visited a local supermarket and did not have the correct change, without hesitation the till operator did not hesitate and agreed to let us pay the next day when we had some sensible change. The people, scenery, beaches and accommodation cannot be faulted and if we ever leave this green and pleasant land it will be for the beauty and natural appeal of this country.

Not enough gossip on here these days. What happened to that nice man Richard who used to work at the Lanterna? What happened to Ze Mata (Mario Matas brother)? He was a nice man too.

Having visited Carvoeiro for the last 22 years, my parents now live there and I always look forward to "going home." Your website is brilliant and shows what a beautiful place Carvoeiro is. We are now going to offer bed and breakfast and shall be advertising on your site. Well done, it must have taken a lot of hard work and your ice-creams are lovely!! From Nadia Cann in Cornwall

The person who asserted the fish was not fresh does not know what he/she is talking about. Anyone who writes "fish from the beach" is in any event a fool. PJ

With regard to the comment "surely you don't think the fish are freshly caught on the beach" my only comment is only a FOOL would think fish can be caught on the beach. If you are reading this don't let the author of the comment put you off Carvoeiro is a truly wonderful place PJ

I have visited Carvoeiro every year for the last 15 years and have travelled all over the World. I write simply to say that there is no better place to holiday. The weather is lovely, the restaurants excellent, especially Chef Antonio, and the people friendly. What do I do in Carvoeiro? Rest, swim and go out in the evening with the family and have freshly caught grilled Lobster or Sea Bass and a bottle of dry white wine. I have recommended Carvoeiro to many friends and thet all return time after time. PJ

Just returned and had to say that we had a very relaxing holiday. The Rocha Brava Villas were excellant although the double bed made some unusual sounds!! I would recommend a car to make travelling easier. The views are spectacular. We are planning to return next year and take both our parents with us!!

We also had a brilliant indian meal while there at the back of the Rocha Brava complex called Algarve2000 (there website is algarve2000.com, great food, excellant service I would recommend you try it.

KB Web site is brilliant, keep up the good work.

A useful site, especially if you want to view a range of opinions about Carvoeiro. Some observations from our mid-October visit... The local beaches are very clean and pretty, but care needed with young children. The beaches shelve steeply into the sea and there is a strong undertow which can knock an adult over. Restaurants are relaxed and generally very welcoming Particularly good for families was Lanterna Velho ( could be slightly out on the spelling!)half way up the hill towards Vale de Milho. VERY welcoming and good quality food. Rocha Mar restaurant, opposite the entrance to Rocha Brava, gave mixed welcome. ( 'cool' one night and very 'warm' a few days later). Again the quality of the food was very good although the speed of service would not suite someone in a hurry. If you want to spend time talking and relaxing it would be of no consequence! The ZooMarine Park on the road back towards Faro is stunning for families. Plan your time around the various shows and you will have a great family day-out. Do not miss the Dolphin display. Absolutely spectacular! (I do'nt agree with caging animals, but all the animals here were quite obviously well looked after and seemed very content)One last tip. If you hire a car make sure you take the Collision Damage Waiver. I didn't and it nearly cost me £300 after a car ran into the back of our vehicle. Oh, the holiday? Brilliant place, fabulous Villas. I want to go again.

First of all, thanks to all for this website. It is EXCELLENT !!.

We have returned this morning from a week in Carvoeiro (21/10/00) having had a superb time. The section on the various beaches is wonderful - we printed this and used it as a guide. Without this I doubt we would have found all that we did.

Of especial note are your instructions. Using real photographs is an excellent way of helping people to follow where they are against the instructions -and they were infinitely better than those supplied by our tour company.

Well done - and I'm sorry to say that the webcam is still showing sun (we've just arrived home in dense fog and rain !!).

Adam & Jo.

First of all I'd like to say a big thankyou to the people who put this web site together. My family & I stayed in Carvoeiro for a week in September & could believe how nice the place was. This site was extremly helpful as I was able to look at the various golf courses, beaches & other things to do. We enjoyed so much that we are going back in April 2001. Of all the resturants we tried the one that sticks in our minds is O'Barradas (on the road to Silves)the freshness & quality of food was 1st class. Many thanks for this informative site keep up the good work. Scott Hickman & Family (scott_hicky@hotmail.com)
