Have just returned from our fourth visit to Carvoeiro. We discovered the Village Inn at Mexilhoeira Da Carregacao, only a short drive from Carvoeiro and well worth it. Run by Kathy Lancaster, it is more like an informal dinner party than a restaurant! The menu is different from anything that you can find in Carvoeiro and for those who have often asked on these pages where to find good vegetarian food, this is the place as Kathy offers a good range along with meat and fish dishes. We also enjoyed the nightly entertainment in the square, particularly Ilze, who has a great voice. We hope to go back next year! Alan

Hi have been to carvoeiro twice this year and others of my family are going out for the third (lucky them) i'm missing the lovely food and cheap drinks! The best restaurant to go to for a good curry is 'Tia Rosa' the staff are very cheerful and the food what eva you have is gorgous! It is on the last right turning as you are going into lagoa from carvoeiro, lovely place we have been going there for about 10 years missing portugal very much!

Just come back from carveiro. Lovely tan, lovely cheap meals. stayed at Hotel Carveiro Sol (big mistake!) indifferent staff, bad food, felt like we were staying in self catering!. Good news, checked out and booked into Almansor! Lovely friendly hotel, brilliant service and lovely surroundings. George the entertainments rep was very entertaining. Want to go back there again next year. Is weather good in June? Please could someone recommend a good restaurant with good food and friendly staff? Alison & Gary Brentwood Essex

are you still around ? Site is not being developped anymore since you decided to work less.....big pity. Specially the diaries were quite amusing. Some stuff is discontinued.....too bad ! Just the message board is continuing and what you get to read there is useless (in most cases).

You should be more active Nick, for the site´s sake.....you´ve done a good job way back then.

Has the new hotel situated on the left hand side from the square to Centianes opened yet? If so, could you let me know its name and also does it have a web site.

just got back from a week at the Almansor. Great hotel and staff. Wonderful taxi driver picked us up from airport, £30 transfer-(cheapest i could find). His name is Hose Manuel. If anyone wants his number i can help u out. Go to Casa Algarvia for a meal and also Primavera-a wonderful, posh Italian run by not so posh Germans! Great weather, lovely people....beaches not as good as Greece though i have to say it...sorry.

In reply to query regarding Direct Holiday and Holidays Direct, they are two separate companies, the one dealing in timeshare in a big way being Holidays Direct.

Direct Holidays are a reputable holiday company who operate in many different holiday resorts and do not push timeshare. We have used them many times and have experienced no problems.

But, regardless of the above, I agree Carvoerio is great, my husband's favorite holiday destination and we have had many great holidays there.

And the resort of Monte carvoeiro is terrific. I posted some weeks ago re high season facilities and of course you'll need to check with MC what's open out of season. However, accomodation and surroundings are truly first class. Phone no. and e.mail shown on this site under "Tourist complexes".

Please could someone reply.....has anyone ever heard of Holidays direct promotions? we have been offered accommodation at either Solgarve apartments in Forte Santa or Monte Carvoeiro in Praia do carvoeiro. Have just got back from Carvoeiro having spent two weeks there on my third visit in 11 years. The town has become a little more commercialised over the years, but is still the best town to visit for a relaxing holiday for families. It has a great selection of the best beaches nearby, and is not too far from either of the two water parks. Other towns are easily reached by hire car. There are enough restaraunts to choose from to eat somewhere different every night, stay within a reasonable budget, still be delighted with the surroundings and the choice on the menu. Most restaraunts make a special effort to spoil your kids and help you to enjoy your evening out. While wanting to enjoy holidays elsewhere, we shall return again to Carvoeiro.
