In carvoeiro there are plenty of places where you could go to at night. However Praia da Oura is definately worth a visit at nighttime. "The strip" as Areias St. Jaou is known is loaded with bars and clubs. The drive to get there will take you appr. 25 minutes. Take a cab, it's not that expensive.

Hi there,

long time ago (1979 and between 80 and 92) I went to the Algarve many times because I had (and still have by the way) family live there. They used to live in Carvoeiro, which I fell in love with. A beautiful small place which had (and have?) kept it's Portugese hart at the right place. No big appartment buildings. It's time I go there again. Probebly in January/February 2003.

To Hilde in Norway. We really haven't found anywhere in Carvoeiro we wouldn't revisit but our absolute favourite is Jota Lita. Joao (John to his British customers) and his brother Jorge are just great and made our visits a real pleasure. Would certainly endorse the comment re the warm welcome for children which seems universal in the Algarve. Enjoy your holiday - we have many happy memories of the town and its people.

to Hilde & family in Norway - we have lived in Lagoa /Carvoeiro in the past,and holiday there from here in U.K;our favourite eating place is Colombos on street near carvoeiro beach - very good service,friendly people and are very nice with children -there were often families with quite a few children eating there.But there are lots of pastelarias & cafes where your children will be welcome as the Portuguese love children and make them welcome.Patricia in Lincolnshire.England.Have a great holiday !

thats not true they cant shut down this road for pedestrians(get yourself informed). they not affraid of the police (how do you know?). is not the new mayor is just the head of junta de freguesia (that's why I say ""mayor"", rather than explain to the readers what the "Presidente de junta de freguesia" is). a serve of the local camara (you think PS is gonna take orders from PSD? Look at Ferragudo) pavements are being arranged (at the moment Estrada do Carvoeiro and Sesmarias). politics they say anythink before elections (When are we electing the Presidente of the JdF?)

Hi whom ever it may concern. We are a Norwegian family of 7, children ranging from 7-15 yrs. We have booked our flight on oct.8th., staying for a week. We plan on staying in Carvoeiro (maybe the Casa Isfahan,-anybody stayed there??) ..I would be very happy about any good advise, where to go, where NOT to go, where to eat, where NOT to eat..a.s.o.
